AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Black descibes the settlement pattern for the Adena and Hopewell in the lower Hocking Valley. Although there are many Adena sites in the valley (suggesting intensive Adena occupation) there are few Hopewell sites and no Hopewell earthwork features. Instead, it is suggested the few Hopewell sites are temporary camps or short-term resource procurement sites. Only the data pertaining to the Hopewell were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) subjects.
