Abstract
This paper focuses on an examination of the relationship between the late prehistoric peoples of Cahokia and the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Emerson attempts to synthesize ca. 1991 information on Cahokia and American Bottom Mississippian cultural history and to relate it to the processes that led to the northern Mississippian expansion.
