The geology and fossil vertebrates of Ventana Cave

stratigraphy and archaeology of Ventana Cave, Arizona, by Emil W. Haury; collaborators: Kirk Bryan [and othersTucson • Published In 1950 • Pages: 75-126

By: Bryan, Kirk.

Abstract
This document was written before the invention of Carbon-14 dating and when the study of the geology of the Pleistocene and early Holocene in the United States was just getting started so other methods had to be used to date the deposits. Bryan attempts to use the glacial advances and other climatic episodes as a way of describing and dating some of the stratum, including ones in Europe and throughout North America. Bryan describes the geologic history and some of the climate of the area around Ventana cave for the last 25,000 years. He concludes the lower cemented beds were deposited between 25,000-10,000 years ago. And that Strata 1-3 are younger than 4500 years ago.
