Abstract
Cable and Doyel excavated at Pueblo Patricio in downtown Phoenix. Due to their work at Pueblo Patricio and their reexamination of the data from Snaketown they came to realize it was time to rethink the cultural chronology at Snaketown as defined by Huary (eHRAF document no. 2). They introduce the Red Mountain phase as the earliest manifestation of Hohokam culture. They see this phase as bridging the gap between the Late Archaic horizon and the Vahki phase as defined by Haury. The authors present revisions in the diagnostic attributes for the Red Mountain and the Vahki phases along with the data supporting their proposed changes.
