Ceramics, dates, and the growth of the Marana community

studies in the hohokam community of marana (15) • Published In 1987 • Pages: 49-78

By: Henderson, T. Kathleen.

Abstract
Henderson describes the ceramics found at four of the Marana community sites. She describes their condition (how broken up they are) as a means of indicating the different categories of ceramic deposits and whether an area was cleaned by hand, swept, dumped in pit, or midden. This can indicate whether a feature was part of a household courtyard and can indicate stratigraphy. This is all done to sort out the temporal relationships between the features at these sites. the decorated ceramics are also described.
