AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Geib and Davidson look for the origins of Basketmaker II at Old Man Cave. They conducted test excavations at this site and found Basketmaker II strata (despite the cave being looted) above strata dated to the Archaic, but there is a several thousand year gap in occupation. Their findings from the cave are described. 'The Basketmaker II group used the site for storage and burial purposes.' (page 200). They conclude that this is another rockshelter in southeast Utah and northeast Arizona that does not support the idea of in-place development of the Anasazi.
