Dean reviews 'potential instances of resource stress caused by environmental, demographic, and behavioral variability during the last 2000 years ...[This] provides a basis for assessing the relevance of Southwestern prehistory to understanding change and evolution in … cultural systems.' (page 48). Although Dean discusses the last 2000 years only the data pertaining to 1300-700 BP (AD 700-1300) were coded for Outline of Cultural Material codes.
