Abstract
In this article Diehl discusses the history of archaeological research at the site of Tula, with emphasis on the investigations of Désiré Charnay and Jorge Acosta, as the basis for the accumulation of a body of knowledge that would ultimately lead to Tula's correct placement in the scheme of Mesoamerican cultural development (p. 13). Detailed descriptions are presented in this work relevant to the types of structures found at the site, their interpretation by the original researcher, and a critical evaluation of their findings by the author.
