AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
MacNeish and Garcia Cook write about their fieldwork in the San Marcos locality in the Tehuacan valley of Mexico. Several areas were excavated that contained strata (Coxcatlan or Abejas phases) within the time period. MacNeish and Garcia Cook briefly describe the strata, its contents (tools, floral and faunal material, etc.), seasonality, settlement pattern as it pertains to the sites, diet, and discuss possible activity areas. One site, Ts 381e contained a pit house dated to the Abejas phase. The San Marcos locality had sites that ranged in time period from 9,000 BP to 500 BP. Only the occupation zones that pertain to the Highland Mesoamerican Archaic time period were indexed with OCM codes (Outline of Cultural Materials (subject codes)).
