Abstract
Chase and Rice summarize the major features of the Postclassic period (with particular attention to settlement patterns, architecture, ceramics) in what they call the northern lowlands area -- the northern shores of Yucatan to the modern territorial division separating Guatemala and Mexico and thence through the heartland of northern Belize (p. 23). The conclusions from the works of several archaeologists studying the Postclassic period in the region mentioned above are mentioned briefly, particularly in regard to the Chichen Itza and Mayapan sites in Yucatan and the Nohmul site in Belize.
