Abstract
In late prehistoric times the Maya of the Yucatan peninsula viewed the neighboring Naco and Sula Valleys of northwestern Honduras as a fabulous land noted for its gold, feathers, and cacao. From an archaeological perspective, however, the region is characterized by relatively unimposing remains concerntrated primarily along the waterways. Wonderley present here an overview of conquest period documentation, and reviews the archaeological data relevant to the Postclassic period in the region which he dates to approximately 1050 B.P.-464 B.P. or 950 A.D.-1536 A.D. (p. 254).
