The architecture of Huaca los Reyes

early ceremonial architecture in the andes : a conference at dumbarton oaks, 8th to 10th october 1982Washington, D.C. • Published In 1985 • Pages: 139-164

By: Conklin, William J..

Abstract
Conklin conducted field observations at the site of Huaca Los Reyes, part of the Caballo Muerto complex, in the Moche Valley on the north coast of Peru, additionally drawing on Thomas Pozorski's excavation results (1976 [2012]) and other, earlier documentation for this analysis of the structure’s architecture. In contrast to Pozorski’s interpretation of one or two major construction episodes, Conklin’s proposal of eight construction phases can lead to different conclusions about the degrees of leadership, planning, and labor organization involved.
