Journal of world prehistory3Published In 1989 • Pages: 117-158

By: Aldenderfer, Mark S..

AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Aldenderfer provides a brief overview of the various Archaic sites found along the coast and highlands of the south-central Andean region, comparing them. Changes in settlement patterns and the start of agriculture and pastoralism are examined. Possible interaction between the coast and the highlands is explored. Aldenderfer also describes the environment and climate of that time. Only data pertaining to the highlands of the Middle and Late Archaic were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) codes.
