AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Steadman cleared a train-cut, drew the profile, and excavated several units along the train-cut at the site of Camata along the northwestern shore of Lake Titicaca; Peru. She then analyzed and described the ceramics as her dissertation. The sequence at Camata extends from 3750 B.P.- 1650 B.P. (1750 B.C. to 350 A.D.) 'The ceramics from Camata differ from previously defined assemblages in the Lake Titicaca Basin, combining attributes from both the northern and southern Basin, as well as local variations.' (page i). One of her more interesting findings is that at this site fiber tempered ceramics came after mineral tempered ceramics. Only the data pertaining to the Highland Andean Formative were indexed for OCM (Outline of Cultural Materials) codes.
