Abstract
This is a documentation and interpretation of artifacts found during the author’s survey of the plains containing the celebrated Nazca geoglyphs, including cairns, miscellaneous structures, lithics, shell, bone, and ceramics.. Stone circles might have been used as shelters from the wind. Many of the associated ceramic vessels are undecorated, so may have been used by the workers during construction to carry water. These plain wares cannot presently be dated. Other ceramics that can be assigned to the Nazca stylistic sequence indicate that the two classes of geoglyphs, linear and figural, were made during different cultural periods. Post-Nazca features and artifacts also are described; only those pertaining to Nazca have been indexed for content within this collection.
