By: Paul, Anne.
Abstract
The author documents the contents of a Paracas Necrópolis burial bundle, with particular attention to the textiles and their artistic designs. Comparison is made with three other bundles from the cemetery, including identification of items possibly made by the same hand, and speculation on the number and social relationships of the weavers. The probable social status of the individual inside the bundle also is discussed, along with the general religious beliefs of the people of Paracas. Artistically, the bundle pertains to the first century or two of the Early Intermediate period, putting it within an early Nazca subtradition.
