Abstract
This book attempts to give an intelligible account of the Copper Age in Western Europe of which the Bell Beaker culture forms an integral part. The information presented here is based largely on a representative selection of published primary material from several major regions of Europe, as well as North Africa, with a concentration on those publications which are the newest and most authoritative in their field (p. 6).The author describes the development of the Bell Beaker complex in each of the areas selected discussing in turn variations within regions based to a large extent on the examination of the characteristic Bell Beaker pottery types as well as the cultural artifacts from various settlement and grave sites. The work is well illustrated with a number of drawings, maps, and photographs.
