Abstract
This is a brief report on the chemical analysis of 12 samples of ceramic fragments from the Leucate site. The tests for starch showed up negative, or very weakly positive for seven samples. A test for sugar, a component of starch, was slightly positive for seven samples. According to Gay the results suggest that the pots were used to hold flour, or some kind of starchy gruel.
