By: Wendorf, Fred, Schild, Romuald.

Abstract
Wendorf and Schild discuss the study of site E71K12. This chapter discusses how the site came to be chosen for study and why there was a large gap between when it was discovered and when they managed to return to do the current, limited salvage excavations. The various excavations and excavation proceedures are described. This chapter contains scatterpattern maps of the artifacts and bone distribution of the initial excavations at the various levels. It also presents a summary of the findings at the site up to the 1995 excavations.
