Geomorphology, stratigraphy, chronology and paleoenvironment of Site E71K12

Late Paleolithic kill-butchery-camp in Upper Egypt, by Fred Wendorf ...[et alDallas, Texas • Published In 1997 • Pages: 11-19

By: Schild, Romuald, Wendorf, Fred.

Abstract
Schild and Wendorf describe the geology around the site E71K12 and its placement in the surrounding geologic strata. They also describe the stratigraphy, excavation, chronology, and setting of the site. They conclude 'the occupation at Site E71K12 concentrated around the shores of an interdunal basin rich in vegetation. At the peak of the Nile flood, the basin seasonally would contain water... Shortly after the flood, the basin would quickly lose the standing water, however, moisture would remain in the pan for much longer...' (page 19).
