The Egyptian Predynastic: a review of the evidence

Journal of field archaeology21 (3) • Published In 1994 • Pages: 265-288

By: Bard, Kathryn A..

Abstract
Bard reviews the Predynastic in Egypt with an overview of the main sites. She then discusses the transition to the early dynastic state. She also describes the archaeological evidence of the Nagada culture's move to the north, first to the Fayum during Nagada IIc-d and then into the Delta in Nagada III. This move north can not be explained solely as a military conquest and Bard presents some alternatives for this acculturation.
