The Later Predynastic Period

Early Egypt : the rise of civilisation in the Nile ValleyLondon • Published In 1993 • Pages: 34-47

By: Spencer, A. Jeffrey.

Abstract
Spencer summarizes the Middle to Late Predynastic period and discusses the changes (house style, cemeteries, urbanization, ceramics, art, palettes, etc.). He talks about a gradual influx of newcomers around Naqada II, but there is also continuity with earlier periods. Upper Egypt continued to advance to the north and by late Naqada II it had reached the Delta. There are photographs of objects shown here that are not in the other documents in the Upper Egypt Predynastic file.
