By: Bacon, Glen H..

Abstract
Bacon outlines a framework for interior Alaskan prehistory. He examines both Eskimo and Athapaskan origins and possible archaeological traditions. Healy Lake Village and Garden site archaeological sequences are discussed. Bacon proposes the Tuktu complex is ancestral to ethnographic Athapaskans. He looks at the changing envionment as a factor in technological change. Bacon sees 'Athapaskan' as a subsistence strategy which was adopted in response to changing habitats.
