By: Drennan, Robert D..
Abstract
Drennan covers the evidence for ritual at the Late Archaic Gheo-Shih site in the Valley of Oaxaca (not applicable to this file, Early Mesoamerican Archaic NY30) and the Early Archaic El Riego phase of the Tehuacán Valley at Cocaxtlán and Purrón caves. The evidence comes largely from burials and human remains, with compelling detail on corpse mutilation and possible human sacrifice.
