Abstract
This is basically a study of the Postclassic as it exists along the rivers, creeks, and coast of the Stann Creek District of Belize. Much of the evidence for the Postclassic recorded in this essay comes from the examination of Terminal Classic-Early Postclassic artifacts from the Mayflower group of sites along the upper reaches of a small creek that drains the foothills of the Maya Mountains. These sites are referred to in the text as Maintzunun, Mayflower, and T'au Witz. The archaeological objects obtained from the excavations at these sites -- stone tools, effigy censers, stelae, PATOLLI boards, etc.-- are described, and, as much as possible, placed in chronological sequence.
