Abstract
Barbarunova discusses Early Sarmatian Culture and its development from the Sauromatian Culture in the southern Ural steppes. Most of the discussion centers on burial data. Discussed are changes in grave construction and mortuary artifacts such as mirrors, portable altars, censers, weapons, tack for horses, tools, ornaments, pottery, and art styles (particularly animal style ornamentation).
