Iron Age nomadic burials of the Eurasian Steppe: a discussion exploring burial ritual complexity
kurgans, ritual sites, and settlements : eurasian bronze and iron age • Oxford • Published In 2000 • Pages: 18-30
By: Hanks, Bryan.
Abstract
Hanks points out some of the assumptions Davis-Kimball made when she assigned statuses to the burials she examined (see eHRAF document #4). Hanks tries to point out some of the complexities involved in funerary ritual and he discusses age and gender categories. Hanks does not see burial remains and artifacts as a direct reflection of a person's status and rank during life.
