Abstract
Marguerie and Marcoux examined charcoal samples from six sites located along the Tobol and Iset Rivers and compared their findings with modern wood samples. (For more information about the sites see eHRAF document number 24 by Koryakova et al., 'Burials and settlements at the Eurasian crossroads: joint Franco-Russian project.') They are able to partly reconstruct the climate, botanical environment, and wood use by the Sargat Culture.
