The Indus Neolithic Tradition is currently known from two sites: Mehrgarh in the lowlands and Kili Gul Mohammad in the highlands. Mehrgarh, a village, was occupied from about 9000 to 6500 BP. Kili Gul Mohammad may have been seasonally occupied during the hot summers. Early domestication of animals and cereals and their development can be seen during this time period. The development of ceramic technology is seen from a coarse tempered-ware with basketry impressions up through a fine red ware. There is evidence of complex social organization with the presence of large storage facilities at Mehrgarh.
