Modify Notebook Contents

Once you have created a Notebook, you can start to add paragraphs to it, remove paragraphs from it, and organize the paragraphs with labels.

Add Paragraphs

There are two methods to add a paragraph to a Notebook: selecting paragraphs on a search result or adding paragraphs individually on document pages.

To add a paragraph to a Notebook on a paragraph search results page, first select one or more paragraphs by clicking on the left colored circle for a paragraph, if you are on List or Card view. These circles do not appear on Hierarchy view. Instead, you can click checkboxes to select paragraphs. Once you have one or more paragraphs selected, an playlist_add Add to Notebook icon will appear at the top. Click that icon, and a small box will appear with a list of your existing Notebooks you can add the selected paragraph(s) to. Click on the Notebook(s) you want to add the paragraph(s) to. A dark gray box will appear in the bottom left that states “Entries added to Notebook.” The paragraph(s) you selected are now in the Notebook. You can also click on a Notebook name again to remove the paragraph(s) from the Notebook.

You can also add a paragraph to a Notebook when viewing a full context page of a document. Each individual paragraph has an playlist_add Add to Notebook icon to the left. Click that icon, and a small box will appear with a list of your existing Notebooks you can add the paragraph to. Click on the Notebook(s) you want to add the paragraph to. A dark gray box will appear in the bottom left that states “Entry added to Notebook.” The paragraph you selected is now in the Notebook. You can also click on a Notebook name again to remove the paragraph from the Notebook.

Remove Paragraphs

In addition to removing paragraphs in search results and in document text as outlined in the above section, it is also possible to remove paragraphs while viewing the contents of a Notebook. When on the Notebook contents page, first select one or more paragraphs by clicking on the left colored circle for a paragraph, if you are on List or Card view. These circles do not appear on Hierarchy view. Instead, you can click checkboxes to select paragraphs. Once you have one or more paragraphs selected, a delete trashcan icon will appear at the top. Click that icon to remove the selected paragraph(s) from the Notebook. A dark gray box will appear in the bottom left that states “Notebook Entry Removed.”

You can also remove paragraphs from Notebooks while viewing a full context page of a document. If you see a paragraph in a document that is in a Notebook, and you want to remove it from the Notebook, click the playlist_add Add to Notebook icon to the left of that paragraph. A small box will appear with a list of your existing Notebooks, where any Notebooks the paragraph is in have a checkmark next to their name. Click the checkbox to remove the paragraph from that Notebook. A dark gray box will appear in the bottom left that states “Notebook Entry Removed.”

Label

It is possible to add labels to one or more paragraphs in a Notebook at a time. This is done on the Notebook contents page. First, select one or more paragraphs by clicking on the left colored circle for a paragraph, if you are on List or Card view. These circles do not appear on Hierarchy view. Instead, you can click checkboxes to select paragraphs. Once you have one or more paragraphs selected, a label label icon will appear at the top. Click that icon to open the label box. The first time you do this, all you will be able to click is the Create Label button. Write the name of a label to create your first label. You can also select a color for the label in a dropdown menu. Once you have one or more labels created, you can select which labels you want to apply to the selected paragraph(s) in the label box. Select the paragraphs in the list and then click Assign to apply the labels to the selected paragraph(s). You can use this same box to uncheck labels to remove them from paragraph(s).

Caution

It is currently not possible to rename, change the color, or delete labels.

Once you have created labels and applied them to paragraphs, you can then filter paragraphs by labels using the left filters sidebar. Click the Show Filters button to make the filters sidebar appear.
